high mileage elan

Hello,

I am still searching...
I came across another elan but this one announce a very high mileage, 250 000 km!!!
The owner has listed the following work on it:

Accessories: New Stereo With IPod Function, New/recently Replaced Leather Seats, Carpets, Tires, Rims. Recently Resprayed So As New. New Softtop.
Description: Fully Overhauled With New Timing Belt, Oil Seals, Valve Guides/Seats. New Cooling System, Steering Rack, PS Pump. Gearbox/Clutch Also Done Recently.

Do you think the car is worth looking at or is it risky?
The body seems quite clean (on picture)

If it's been serviced regularly (especially oil changes) it should be OK. Sounds like the top ends been done, too.

One of the original LECers had an SE with 200,000 + miles on the clock and the engine was still going strong with it's original head gasket.

Don't blame me if it's a dog, though

Look at it this way - if it's got that many miles on it, it probably wasn't in the garage being fixed for 4 months of each year...

Low mileage is no guarantee of good condition; mine had 56k on it and had some issues possibly related to not getting used often enough over the last few years. I wouldn't reject one out of hand just because it's been kept rolling...

Mine has just turned 114,000 since new with two owners, my late wife and myself. I was with Gerald in Newmarket this morning and he sold one last year with around 250,000 miles on the clock. He said that there's lots of life in the old dog (K9 WFF) yet!

We tried for K9 WUF, which would have been better, but K9 WFF is good. Car has been known as Yellow Dog in her time.

Interestingly, I've since K9 CAT on something boring like a Focus. But today, as I drove into Cambridge, the plate on a Renault Van in front, was K90 BAY. Or K9 Obay.

There are probably a lot of interesting K9 plates. I think K9 DOG sold for over £6,000 or so at Crufts a few years ago.
