Is it just me ... Or is any one else sick to death of hearing that fat f**ker on TV singing "go compare" "go compare" every bleeding 10 minuets, 24 hours a day... If I hear it before I go to bed I cant sleep, which surely must be violating my human rights.... The other day I walked into our kitchen and the missus was standing at the sink singing it without realizing she was doing so ........ (she only stopped when I threatened to put my head in the oven)

I would love to.....
a. smack him in the face with a shovel ..
b. then smack him in the face a second time with a Wok ... ......whilst singing to HIM loudly..... "go compare" - "go compare"

I saw Wynne Evans (plays the part of Gio Compario in the Go Compare adverts) at the Royal Albert Hall the other week, I was a bit worried he'd camp up and sing his stupid advert song, but he didn't. Bloody good singer though, so long as it's not Go compare, go compare..........

And for our non-UK friends who haven't a clue what we're on about, here's all the adverts all together in one place!

Just fell out with Adrian Flux as they made a complete ear hole of the renewal, the price went up and then they made a mess of the information they needed.
You would have thought they would have checked their records as the car had been insured with them for the past 3 odd years but no they made a right pigs ear of it and after several phone calls and the "I'll ring you back" which never happened it got cancelled.

So now with Classic Line and the best bit is it's about £50.00 cheaper, around £200.00 with breakdown cover, 5k per year me and wife to drive agreed value £100 excess etc.
It was a refreshing change to phone them up and get a quick and simple response and they did not want to sell me any thing else which was not going to happen any away.

It may be interesting to some but Classic line self insure so they are not a third party for some other insurance company should have gone with them years ago ho hum hind sight is a wonderful thing.

No its not just you, so join the queue :-D

I even swap the radio station whenever it starts and thats at least twice on my commute..

Bob, sorry to hear Adrian Flux gave you such a bad customer service this year, they did however save me 60 quid this year.
Glad to hear though that Classic Line sorted you out.......and saved you money :-D

Depends on who your insurance is with but Classic Line just sent a form which asked for some information regarding the cars condition etc and wanted some pictures and I think you may find this is the same for others.
Do not forget that what you think it is worth and what it may actually be worth can be two different things, lets see mine is worth £8000, not a chance

Bob sent pics etc and they want a formal valuation, thought £10k was fair  I'd said £5k to them given its fairly clean 80k miles good history and about £1k on upgrades recently which I thought was fair.

David

Are you insured with Classic Line?
If so it was my understanding they self insure and did the valuations themselves although you had to pay them £15.00 for the valuation which was valid for 2 years.

David - Club Lotus will do it (think they give it to Paul Matty) or Guy Munday at Strattons will do it if you make a donation to a favourite cause of his.

With Adrian Flux they accepted my own valuation of £5k, backed up with 5 pictures.

Peter James want an 'official' valuation which can be got from Club Lotus for £10 (form downloadable from the website), or from Paul Matty - also £10, but the cash goes into a charity pot.

I've just been quoted by PD James that if I use a Everest chip (200BHP) my premium will increase by £75, how does that compare, It sounds good to me.

I'm more than pleased with the latest deal which I've got.........

Previously, we had the red elan on a 'normal' policy in Angies name, as she had full NCB and needed unlimited mileage, and the blue one was on a 5000 mile policy with an agreed value of £5K. (my NCB is on the Vectra).

Angies was through Peter James, and mine through Adrian Flux (prices were comparable) - but both were with the same actual insurer - KCM.

Mine is due on 20th August, and the renewal came in at £173......

I tried Peter James, out of interest, and they came in at £178, but it includes full European breakdown cover.

I was quite pleased, but decided (out of simplicity) to stay with Adrian Flux, as i have been happy with their customer service, and it saves getting a different 'agreed valuation'......

A few minutes later, the phone rings and the nice lady at Peter James tells me that the website is wrong, and they can offer unlimited mileage at the same price.

We have a bit of a chat, then she tells me that i can save a bit more as the car has a Cat 1 alarm system.....

Then she realises that we already have a car insured through them, and tells me that they can do a multi-vehicle policy......

The final upshot is that i got fully comp cover, agreed value of £5k on each car, declared modifications, both with Cat 1 alarms, member of Club Lotus, unlimited mileage, full breakdown/recovery anywhere in Europe (well, most of it, and all that i will go to!)....

And for all that, i had to pay £101 for the year

Then it got better, they only wanted £81 off me as the policy will have a common renewal date of the end of May, and £101 was the annual fee for the second car!!!!

Basically, i already pay £79 a year for my breakdown/recovery membership, which i shan't now need to renew this month - so according to my amateur Mathematics, i have insured the blue car for 2 quid :-D :-D :-D

(and before you get pernickity, i know it works out at a bit more than that, as i need to pay a tenner for the club valuations, so that will be £20, and it isn't a full years' cover - but i reckon that next May, I'll end up paying something like £280 for both cars for a full year - and if not, and i have to start again, then at least i've saved a few quid this year, and i have no NCB to lose ......

The only 'down side' is that i no longer have any entitlement to drive other cars (except I already have it on the Vectra insurance  ), then there are numerous 'up-sides' - as the policy is in Angies name, any crashes will be recorded against her, not me!!!!! - the NCB is transferable, so i will have 9 years worth to have on my own second policy next year if i need it!!!!, No longer need to worry if i am going to go 'over miles' (that stopped me taking the blue one to the Isle of Mann last year, and Scotland this year!), no need to give 14 days notice of going abroad...and saved a wad of notes.
