Doesn't look like an S2 centre console to me. I don't think they did many cloth insert S2 seats either.
It has a non-Nardi steering wheel which I know is OK for an S2 but still?
The whole interior looks SE to me --not S2
I'd be checking the paperwork, VIN plates, engine numbers, etc. v. carefully were it me.

It's definitely an earlier (SE/NA) console and dash plaque. I've never seen that on an S2 before, though I've seen quite a few S2s with half leather and standard (i.e. non-Nardi) steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure the first letter on the number plate is an M. I just carried out a simple check (the things you do when you're waiting for your ever-tardy girlfriend to turn up) and the registration mark M****** in indeed that of a 1994 Elan S2.
I wonder if the interior photo is of the same car as the exterior photos or if the the whole interior been replaced by one from an earlier car?

I could imagine someone fitting the earlier centre console - the cubby is useful, and if you were used to an SE you might prefer the height of the armrest, etc.
But the absence of the Ltd Edition plate on the dash is much more odd.

I just had an e-mail from the seller.
We may have leapt to conclusions, I think. I think PH may have used the wrong picture of the car's interior. The seller sent me pictures of the interior (which is half leather) which has an S2 type centre console, limited edition plaque, and boost gauge, and which has the rare locking handbrake, too.
It looks like a very nice car, to be honest (dare I say over-priced?).
If anyone wants the pics, I'll e-mail them. I can't be bothered to upload them to photobucket.

Mia culpa!!! Thank you guys for pointing this out, and I am impressed by your knowledge and eagle eyes. The interior shot was indeed not of my car!
How did I do this I ask myself and my conclusion is that I kept a photo of an Elan that I looked at when I was looking to buy back in 2000 and then used this in error when I placed the ad in PH. Stupid or what!
I now have to work out how to get the ad re-instated on PH with correct photo of the interior!
Cheers.

The same one which reviewers of SEs almost universally criticised?
Doesn't get in my way. I find it's perfectly placed as an armrest/storage compartment.

Rip, you misunderstand, I think. Those used to the SE are, I suspect, likely to prefer the SE/NA type console as you and I obviously do. If I bought an S2 I'd be tempted to retrofit the SE type console with cubby/armrest

Not really 'leapt to conclusions' based on what we saw: what was being advertised was not in the pic.
Really glad it turned out to be a genuine mistake as bad things going on can get sometimes you down.
Quite a funny mistake though!
Hope you resubmit your advert all right Tim.
