Special A-panel bolts HELP !

Postby jimbob » Tue 18.05.2010, 01:15

Phoned Lotus today because the special m6x16 and m6x20 square headed bolts on the top of the A panels are not listed on the parts manual neither do they come with a new a panel, the guys at Lotus technical drew a blank lol !

Anyone had any experience with this part ?

Cheers Jamie

Certainly it would seem they no longer come with the A panel, the man from Lotus technical had a look at their stock of A panels and they had no bolts, so a Lotus error ?

Some where along the line these bolts seem to have been forgotten about by Lotus which wouldn't be a problem if the square flat head wasn't so unique.

Lotus Technical got back to me this afternoon and the official line is - "we no longer have the original design drawings for the M100 A panel, we can supply the A panel since we still hold the moulds, but we have chosen to supply this without the special M6 bolts since we do not have a supplier for the bolts, we have left it up to the customer to source their own bolts"

Huh, great

These are bespoke items and to what I can see unique to the Elan

Time to get the overalls on !

Was thinking more along the lines of making up a batch of them to original spec.

One is M6 x 16 the other is M6 x 20 - nothing special there

The special bit is the head, its 15mm x 15mm square to spread the load on the A panel and its only 1.75mm thick to clear the top shell outer skin.

Oh and they are N.L.A. so now they are "very special" :-D
