Coolant Hose - help identifying please..

Hi.

I have a small leak in one of my coolant hoses. It's on the right hand side of the engine as you look at it and I'm reliably informed that it connects the thermostat housing to the heater supply and then y's off to the water pump. Obviously it's a y shaped hose..

I'm hoping that this might be the cause of my coolant loss rather than the rad as it's far more preferable to replace a hose than a radiator!

I've had a trawl around here but can't find a part number or a likely looking post that might help me identify it - as ever any assistance gratefully received and any ideas where I might source one - SJ's have various hoses but only pictures for some of them but I can't see one that looks similar.

Y shaped? Sounds like the big one to me. IIRC, it is Y shaped at the other end too, with 1 end going to the bottom rad connector & the other going to the water pump.

I don't know the OEM part no, but does this help?
I think the hose in question is TB1838.

If 1 pipe has started to go, then the rest MAY follow. Is it worth replacing the lot?

The hose you need is C100K0026F it's listed as "hose thermostathousing/heater valve/elec pump"

Thanks for your quick reply..

I don't think it is the big one - I did see the Samco pic you linked to and I have a feeling it may be the smaller pipe TB1829 as it seems to connect to metal pipes and be about that size - I've been on the Samco site and searched for that part number but nothing comes up. I did try and take a pic of it but my phone cam wasn't up to the job and I was caught in a torrential downpour when I found the leak which didn't help.

I think you're right about replacing the lot actually - especially now I've seen those bright, shiny Samco's, but that might be a job for the near future and given that I can actually see and access this little leak and have a kind offer of a bit of help to replace this one that's causing the problem I'm tempted to do a stitch in time and do the rest when the car goes in for a service.

I'll dig out my camera and try and get a decent pic later today..

Thanks for the help - still haven't been able to get a decent pic of the hose - it's rather hidden away under a tangle..

Wonder if anyone knows where I might get one at a more economical price - Paul Matty want £66 I think..

I may have one......used....
I took it off and kept it when I put the samco ones on.......
I managed to get most of them off but some got 'cut'.......I'll need to have a look to see which ones

Might see me through till I next see my mechanic and can check whether I need to do the whole lot with those shiny samcos..

Hmm - and you wouldn't get great odds on that bet either..

It took me a while to find the leak - I had a new water pump at the beginning of the year so my cooling system was all working very nicely, then I started to lose a bit of coolant and thought it was the rad - it was only through sitting in a traffic jam and seeing a whiff of steam from under the bonnet that led me to catch this miniscule split by the joint of the pipe - it only seems to steam out when I switch the heating off actually.

Still - could be worse...

Yup, it could be worse... With me the coolant hose to the turbo failed, resulting in the loss of cooland in a couple of mintes... Thankfully no damage done, but i replaced the lot and the heatervalve as well as a precaution.

I just replaced about half of my hoses with Samco replacements, while I installed the plastic heater valve.
The ones at the bulkhead are a bit fiddly to get to, but its a relatively easy job if you're happy to cut the old ones and given the age of the original pipes I think it's worth it. I've ordered some matching vacuum pipes too, they're starting to look quite tired and even though none seem to be leaking yet I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
