Normally I don't buy anything on Ebay from China. That's where this starter button came from. The reason I normally don't is because I've heard it's more likely you'll pay and never get what the item. I figure ebay and paypal have enough protection built in to cover me for something at $25 (this isn't the first item I've gotten from China).

Anyway, no problem getting the item, but it turns out to be a piece of crap! What? Three days use? Well, today I pushed it to start the car and the button kind of collapsed. It pushed in beyond where it's supposed to. It still works, but it's lose in its own barrell, and doesn't look good now. I'm going to take it out and take it apart. I'm sure I can fix it, and make it so this doesn't happen again. If not, I'll have to buy another one (not from the same source), because I'll have a starter button-sized hole in the dash if I don't.

Just a word of advice to anybody who might be thinking of getting one of these......Don't. Get a different button, from a more reputable source.
Chris

Ha,ha Marie, naughty,

sorry about that, over here touch wood means with a bit of luck it will be o.k. We then touch the nearest block of wood for luck.
And I do mean wood type wood.

Over here we say, "knock on wood." It's a little more difficult to make the leap to that sounding naughty.

I'm going to retract my previous recommendation to avoid this type of starter button. I pulled it from the dash, which took only a few minutes, and found that the problem is that the internals of the button are only held in place by friction. Basically, the back of the assembly (the white part in the picture) isn't glued in. It just fits very tight, and apparently is supposed to be tight enough that pushing the button won't dislodge it. This isn't the case, at least with the individual button I received. Each time I started the car with the button, I apparently moved the internals slightly, until the whole thing finally pushed out the back. All I had to do was put it back in, and I put a couple of drops of super glue on it to keep it from happening again. if anybody decides to get one of these, I just recommend that before you install it, you push the button through (just push the button hard enough) and put a couple of drops of super glue on it.
