If it ain't one thing...
After a wonderful day replacing a leaking pipe on the engine I went to retrieve the aforementioned article from the boot to take a picture of it and resolve my previous cry for help identifying the hose and get my work stuff for tomorrow. My boot was fine this morning but the lock now seems to have failed and no amount of coaxing, graphite or trying different keys will let me in! My WD40 is, of course, in the boot too. It feels like the lock mechanism has shifted perhaps and is maybe out of alignment or something.
I've sent a PM to a member who might let me into the alleged secret of boot access but if anyone else has any ideas I'd appreciate them! Please PM me if you require security verification in return for the info...
I'm in remarkably good spirits for someone who's just spent an hour or more trying to get into the boot though - after replacing my hose and a good long run it seems as though at least that little problem is solved.
Many thanks.
Matt

Some idiot locked Nobbys keys in his boot on the IOM about 1/2 hr before the ferry home. The mechanic did the job in quick order and Nobs and I had the fastest drive across the mountains- WOW!!!!

Wish me luck!

Well it works..
Wouldn't exactly call it 'fun' - had a few honks of encouragement from passing motorists and interested passers by but once I'd explained to them it's all part of the experience of owning a hand built British Sports Car they seemed to understand!
Now I have to replace or refurb the barrel - they're off a Vauxhall Carlton I think - anyone know which lock off one in case I need one?
Thanks for the helpful instructions..

SJ Sportscars sell a lock set (about £60) which includes boot, both doors and two keys. Easy to fit all of them (assuming you have had experience of removing the door cards) and only need one key for all. I think the Carlton lock applies to the glovebox only.

Cheers for the info - I think I'll have to get the full set some point in the near future - off to research the door cards now - could be a great excuse to upgrade the speakers at the same time!
