Exhaust backfire

Car starts fine and runs OK but when its revved it backfires making it undrivable

My car has been of the road for a year now due to mainly swapping the engine and a few upgrades,, the upgrades included a Peco system with a Piper PCE...but this change should not cause the backfiring ??

I think the car maybe over-fueling due to the smell when running,,,,Does the car need the base timing set after transplant??

any ideas greatly received

Mine does this, fine when giving it some but when you let off the gas it pops then if you touch the accelerator just a tad it backfires.

I have been told by several garages that this is normal and while i have been advised that my car is running slightly rich it is better for a turbo car to run rich as it will make the turbo last longer.

Mine pops all of the time throttle off but only backfires ocationally ...I quite like it

The backfiring I've got is not normal.....I wouldn't mind the odd one but its like a gun fight in my back lane!!
