Classic Cars are going to be running an MX-5 versus Elan test next month.........

Lyndon McNeil took some snaps, static and moving. And I snapped him doing so!











The roof was up in the moving pic because it was holding the top trim strip on. The car chose that day of all days to exhibit its first three (non brake) problems - a misbehaving window, a recalcitrant headlight and said trim strip.

And I can't tell you how close I had to get to the Volvo camera car.

???? Think you may be confusing the Bulldog with the Pup? IIRC the Pup had two wings and entered the training schools in 1917. The Bulldog was very new when I was one of the first to train on it and that was the 70's.

Cheeky tw@t! Our Bulldogs were fairly new when I got my hands on them, in 1979, and hadn't suffered too badly from the ham-fisted efforts of those who went before............

They wanted original, and as close to the MX-5 in price, I think.

Also a handsome, charming, intelligent driver. I haven't met any S2 drivers who conform to that spec!

I used to fly Bulldogs out of Sydenham when I was a teenager - great little planes. All the cadet AEFs in mainland Britain had crappy Chipmunks, but we didn't have our own machines and had to share with the big boys
Chipmunks were barely capable of any real aeros as I recall, but you could chuck a Bulldog around like a lunatic and never get into trouble. I think they sold them all off for a pittance a few years back
