pls review scan

did a scan on my engine, the only thing i noticed is the TPS is too high
appreciate any other comments (this is done on a smoking engine)

Sorry Peck, I haven't had much time to look in recently:

I've taken a quick look and as well as the TPS voltage being high (causing the engine speed to be slightly higher than the target idle) there may be something wrong with your MAP sensor as the barometric pressure is reported to be 0.71bar but it should be close to 1bar........ unless you are at 10,000 feet. This would cause the engine to run lean and can cause HGF or piston damage.

You have also had 32 knocks which is probably not important in the overall scheme of things.

and gosh!!! the TPS cost GBP200 at SJ's and the MAP sensor cost GBP136!!!

.71 BAR is about what you see when a 3 Bar MAP sensor has been fitted (it's what I see on Smaug, anyway.) I would definitely check the part number on the MAP sensor to see if this has been switched. If this was changed without also modifying the fueling (larger injectors, modified computer or some other means of compensating) this would definitely cause issues.

tks adam, that's very good. but i can't seem to find anyone selling at the moment
rockauto has a beck/arnley p/n 1580380, and according to the wiki it should fit. is that right? tks

i will need to remove the MAP sensor and check the part number.
now, to look for a replacement TPS

Hi, I have done an elanscan after my engine rebuilt.

26032011cold.zip

26032011warm.zip

when cold, the engine speed rose to above 3000rpm at 3 time intervals, and when I switched on the aircon, the engine speed surges to beyond 3500rpm...
i tried to test if it was due to a vacuum leak but it seeems not to be the problem.
from what i see, seems that the MAP is still too low. Am I right that the readings should be 1bar? I tried to fix the MAP I bought from rockauto but the car can't start, so i reverted back to the old MAP.
Also, the spark advance is at 19degrees, so does it mean that my BTDC is 19 degrees instead of 16?
The car runs fine when well warmed up though..
Can someone please take a look at the scan as I'm really not sure how to interprete the readings.
