Air Filter Element

I'd like to keep the stock air filter housing, never liked the aftermarket hot air intakes really.

Just wondering if there is performance differance between the stock filter and the K and N filter?

Looking at this discussion thread it appears the jury is out on this on the benefits, depends on what you want, personally I've always liked the look of the K&N induction kit but never wanted to pay the price, I also have a feeling it might be a bit noisier - but I do like the idea of never changing it. Power gain - negligable - an Everest chip will make more difference for similar (well OK slightly more) money.

Agreed. Difference is slight at best. The compromise is that it does not filter quite as effectively...allegedly.

The stock trash can may look unsightly but it is apparently quite efficient. Definitely better than a poorly plumbed-in induction kit which sucks in hot air.

I had a Filter which topend sell, didn't sound much louder (though obviously it was a tadd) and I didnt notice any gains.


I am using a K&N Apollo which is sealed like the stock airbox, again doesn't sound much louder. Not used it enough to notice any gains but it allowed me to plumb my re-circ dump valve into my system without hacking the airbox.
