Eye candy

Postby Tannerman » Sun 07.11.2010, 17:49

Unsure if this will come through but i have finally finished my car after a 3 month rebuild....Blood,Sweat,Tears and lots of money (more than i dare tell the Mrs) and the result is what we have here.

I am happy with the results as i bought this last April and it was looking tired and probably anyone sane would have broken it but i have always been a bit of a sucker for a sob story.

Hope the pics come through as i am "shite" at this sort of thing.

Let me know what you think :-D

cheers

john

Very very nice John, well done.

Hopefully we'll see both you and your car at next Sunday's meet.

What did you do to the tail light covers? Did you darken/smoke them, or is that just what they're supposed to look like (as opposed to the way most of them do after nearly 20 years)?

Looks great, the alloys really make it stand out!

What exhaust do you have?

Hi Guys thanks for the kind words..

I have smoked the front and rear lights, i saw this on the thread you started and i think i said not my cup of tea..But then i thought about going clear but the cost was nuts so i binned that, i think it make it look aggressive tinted i am happy with them.

The plate is not a private, should mine have the perspex over? I did notice when i stripped the car that the O/S rear light had a date on it from 1995 so i know that has been replaced but was unsure about anything else.

Wheels are quite close to the offset so no difference in handling that i can tell and they do look nice but a pig to clean.

I stripped the car for repaint and then rebuilt it up so i could replace refurb paint and clean as i went along, my neighbour thinks i am too "anal" but i enjoyed it.

Cheers John

Sorry knew there was one more question, the exhaust is a cusom made stainless one..Just slightly bigger than standard but not big enough for boost creep..

I said to the guy who fitted it to do what he thought was best with the tailpipe but advised him i didn't want a "Nova fart pipe" (UK guys will know what i mean) so he went for an upswept oval Sounds really nice :D

I really like the look of them in your pics. Did you use the spray-on stuff? After I started that discussion thread, I haven't got 'round to doing anything yet. Now that I see yours, I think I'll move it up my to-do list.

Hi chris,
Yes it is the spray on stuff...cheap as chips and done for less than £10...I took the lense off and cleaned them up before spraying also it is very reflective so it doesn't block out much light and the reflectors can still be seen avoiding an issue with the police or MOT problems.

cheers john
