URGENT!

Does anyone know the rating of the interior lights in the rear view mirror?

12V/DC
5W
GE 192

I guess Bosch 501 12V 5W would do.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Well Geoff that would be a nicer way of doing it than the remotes. We should develop an actual circuit.
I will get the remote version working first then , if popular, we could look at some electronics

I am watching!! sounds good :D

What do you use for your PCB LAYOUT? I designed boards for 15 years or so using the PADS system.

Fantastic.. I have always wanted to have a go with one of those prototype makers.

I have use the Allegro (no Leyland jokes please) system a few times as an ex customer of mine used it. It is very good.
One of the "traditional" systems.

I'm currently using these modules for some custom work in the car. They have significant programablility, are cheap, small and work quite well. One (or two perhaps?) could be used per window to accomplish this easily.

Looks interesting.

Bespoke electronics would be the way to go though.

I have had no time at all to do any further work on this at the moment.

I did do some messing about improving seals by firstly filling with sika flex over any bad bits, I then found it can be smoothed with wet and dry paper to make it flat.

I then got hold of some rubber paint and sprayed loads of layers on ...it looked pretty much perfect, but not sure how long the rubber paint would last,

I think we need to find a dip type rubber.

Cheap? CHEAP! You overpaid 51st Stater you! :-D Anyway, I think one second of window drop would be too long Blair, especially in the UK.

The cunning plan has been festering and is just about ready to try out, but because it was so cold in the garage I've knocked up an Elan interior light/window control emulator. If I prove it on the bench, how about I send both units off to someone who can try it out in anger? .... who knows which end of the soldering iron is hot........ and has a wife called Tania..... and went to a party with Monty dressed as a walrus...... Anyone?

Oh I wish I could be a 51st stater! And to be spat on too. Bloody favourtism! I think they think of us as 52nd staters - just behind Puerto Rico

Looking good! Only one minor mod (component value change) to make and it'll be video time. :D

Only because it's warmer in Puerto Rico and we just don't like cold all that much. It's nothing personal.

Although they do love you sometimes. Coincidentally, the fact and quote of the day from the BBC website were:

"Immediately after George W Bush's election victory in November 2004, Canadian immigration authorities experienced a six-fold increase in inquiries from US citizens - from 20,000 to 115,000 a day."

"I know that the human being and the fish can co-exist peacefully." GEORGE W BUSH - Surely he meant the dolphins?

I think the current production cars that drop the window prior to the door opening have electronic latches, the door handles (inside and outside) are actually only operating a switch. Once the window has dropped the required amount the door latch is energised thus opening the door. When the door is closed it triggers the ECU to raise the window. My Freelander has this arrangement on its tailgate and noticed the same on my friends new Peugeot 308cc.
