Pump going bad?

Seems that each time I start the car I get a few seconds of squealing from the PAS belt. I've tightened it several times but it doesn't seem to help. The belt is also only about 6 months old. Recently I'm getting the same squealing as I'm downshifting. I've gone to the salvage yard and found several used pumps. The one thing I noticed though is that some of them turned very easily while others were tougher to turn. Is it possible that my pump is on the way out and is the cause of the belt squealing due to too much resistance? How tough is it to swap out the pump on a Fed car? Wish I'd done it when I had the clamshell off.

PAS belt?.....
are you sure?....sounds like a typical fan belt squeal to me.....

I'm 100% sure it's the ps belt but it is definitely new and definitely tight. I'm wondering if the bearings in the ps pump are going bad causing way too much resistance and causing the belt to slip. Anyone have a ps pump go bad? How hard is it to swap? Turbo and exhaust manifold need to be removed?

Don, slacken the adjustor and spin the wheel.
I think you will be removing the turbo and dwn spout.
Their is very little clearance.
