Two kids now, it's got to go for something more practical (Mercedes CL500! Slightly more practical!) :D

I've had it about 18 months, and I has only failed me once. In that time it has had

Replacement hood (one small, 20mm tear that has been repaired), new tyres 1,000 miles ago, new coils/plugs/leads/CAS sensor, new fuel pump (the breakdown), just serviced (full service bar the gearbox oil - I couldn't get the sump washer in time!). The rear brakes had new proportioning valves on both sides, and Bob's bolts on the calipers when they were rebuilt along with new rear wheel bearings. I had a CAT 1 alarm fitted (with certificate) and a Sony Bluetooth stereo, replacing the rotten front speakers at the same time.

I have service history for the car and that includes new rear suspension arms and a cambelt.

Mot is due in June 2011. Still to fix is the NS window motor (second hand Pug 405 motor included in the sale, but no time to fit it) and a small hesitation under acceleration - I suspect it to be the timing and I've ordered a timing light to get this sorted provided I get a chance.

The Paintwork is all original, but that does mean that if you want a concours queen then it will need a repaint Don't expect a 19 year old car to have no stonechips or scratches, but cleaned up like in the pictures it looks a million dollars. The interior is in good nick, but the leather on the drivers seat is coming away at the stiching in the usual places. Apart form the brake pins the brake system is standard, and nothing has been done to the performance side of things either - unmolested is the best way to put it. I understand only 50 cars were made in black, and full black leather was also an option so there will not be many about with this combination.
£3,950 ovno
topliss at hotmail.com for more pics, or call 07725 950199. The car is in Melton Mowbray or I'll be driving it to Nottingham weekdays whenever it is sunny! Thanks for looking

Scott.

Do I buy another Elan or go for something older and different?

I am very interested in seeing your car, sorry about back tracking last week, but now I'm registered it is another positive step towards M100 ownership. Who do you get your cheap insurance with? Let me know if your pride and joy is still available. Nigell
