Hi Julian,

Just wondered if you could answer a few questions regarding the car

1. How long have you owned the car ?
2. What was the date and type of the last service ?
3. How long ago was it that the cambelt was changed ?

Thanks

Andy

I bought the car in October last year - selling to buy VW Bay Camper.

This car has done a warranted 62,000 miles from new and this is backed up with a comprehensive service history. There are a total of 20+ services some as little as 111 miles apart as that was the 12 months mileage. On average servicing has been every 2.818 miles to further warrant the mileage there are 12 old MOTs and a folder of invoices including a stainless steel exhaust. Also I have a clear HPI certificate done via the AA. Services were carried out at the following mileages:

2755, 3584, 4818, 11439, 18502, 20187, 27193, 32135, 37436, 43755,46495, 49155,49631, 50532, 50643, 51269, 52038, 52808, 53663, and 54862 ( in 2006 )

Which in 62,000 miles is clearly an excellent service history. There are many invoices for further work including a timing belt change at 52038 miles. ( 2003 )

The current MOT, which has no advisory issues expires on April 26th 2011 so I will obtain a new 12 month certificate in the next few days. Now has new 12 month MOT with no advisory issues.

There is current roadtax until May 2011.

I bought a Nokia handsfree bluetooth car kit ( works with all bluetooth phones inc. Iphones) for it but never fitted it - I will try to find time to do this ( now fitted and working) but if not it comes with the car as does a Satnav portable unit but both these are at the asking price. Bluetooth now fitted and working.

I know of no faults with this car apart from an exhaust (stainless) rattle only on large bumps . Rear most mounting requires changing - garage did not have part.
The car drives and handles as it should. It has seats from a later S2 - black with red piping.

As the car is due for a service I will have the car serviced in the next few days at my local Bosch garage.

If that was the last time the belt was changed ( 2003 ), then i'm pretty sure its overdue another one, sure the intervals we're 6 yrs.
JPS M100 was built from bare chassis up to create one off M100 in the mould of JPS Team Lotus

You are probably right but the belt has only done 10k miles and my experience is that the 6 yr recommenation is the manufacturer covering its back against any possible claims. The original belt did 12 years and 52k miles without failing. A belt that is 6 years old with 60k+ miles might be worth changing.

I will get a quote for a timing belt + tensioner change from a Bosch garage and post it here.
