Elan Colour Code

Postby PECKHS » Mon 04.04.2011, 09:45

I have recently send my car to the workshop for repainting, and when I quoted them the colour code as N9149 (Monaco White) they keep insisting that the colour code does not exist. i did some search on the net myself and realised that other then the N9149 code, Monaco white is also B01 or A21 or L25. When I told them of these codes they were able to find in their system.

Just in case someone may encounter the same problem as I had, here's the colour chip :

Hi
I also have a monaco white elan. I recently had to do some paint work to it and had no trouble getting the paint. The guy just got out his flip chart and with no hassel mixed me a litre. The colour was a good match, but I also purchased a very small tin of standard white which I found, if you mix this 3 to1 I got a perfect match. The paint was purchased from Auto Paint Supplies Unit 8, Hadley Buiness Park, Hadley, Telford TF1 6PY. Tel 01952 641774.

Haha, the world may be getting smaller, but I doubt any freight company would allow a can of paint to be send by air :-D

Sure they would.... but you had better be sitting down when they tell you the cost of a dangerous goods shipment ....

Went through all of this a few months ago trying to get a shipment of antifoul paint from Dubai to Bahrain :banghead:

Good info on the colour chart peckhs... Maybe a month or 2 too late for me as I think the shop that repainted mine last month just did a mix n match.

but I must admit they did a reasonable job. I can not tell the colour difference between the under bonnet areas that were not resprayed and the new paint.

But £600 for a full respray inc wheels I can not complain (Although I did.... alot.. But to give the guys credit after a bit of discussion about what is acceptable and a couple of re painted parts... I'm a very happy customer)!

Must admit that I normally do not like white cars (40% of cars here seem to be white, probably due to reflecting the heat) But I do think that the Elan does look good in white :)

There is also some info on the Wiki. The link to Mike Causer's site is now broken which is a shame as there was a load of good information on it. :(
