Both my brother & I might be up for it, though it's too far in the future to say for certain.

Any tips or advice on good cars to use? My feeling is something with carbs & a distributor for ease of repair.
Were they still cheap enough we'd have done it in Hillman Imps but those days are no more alas.

Searching ebay I'm struggling to find anything down at the £250 price limit that isn't being broken...

Thanks AB.

Reading the event forum it seems there might be a 1998 and newer rule too though due to the import laws of Kazakhstan (from a previous rally), but does it apply to this & other events?

I also understand that newer cars will make more for charity, but it seems the rules for a car costing less than £250, but newer than 1998 really puts the squeeze on finding a suitable and 'fun' car for the trip...

your right about kaz , even though we still take older ones and they get scrapped rather than resold,
but this one ends in Bulgaria , my friend who lives out there is co ordinating with the charity and decent cars will be auctioned , older/knackered ones will be scrapped . what has also happened in the past is that the charity (where applicable) team up with there local scrap yard and convert the cars to lhd then re-register them and sell them for really good money . We made over £12,000 on the northern lights for the rehab center in Estonia last year. Don't think that you have to take something really decent though , you can if you want , but its your rally .Any money for the cars is better than none and it also raises awareness for unsupported charitys . so take anything , stupid as you like for this one .

also your interpretation of old and useless may be like a rolls royce to somone with only a moped / donkey and cart / trabant ..

if you like (there is nothing to say you can't ) you can alway buy something , drive it their and then drive it home again , 2 guys are driving an mgf (without a roof) their and back and getting sponsorship for their own charity...

really anything goe's here ... it is for fun

search words like body kit , modified , v6 , damage repaired or check the classic section. there was a nice(?) MK1 cavalier in beige with mot for £280.

i will probaby be taking something with a hideous body kit if possibe..

Holy crap! I wish I'd known about this a little earlier. I'm recently unemployed and up for some adventure. Does anybody need a teammate? I could source a car over here too if need be.
