96 S2 Turbo for sale - now sold, sorry

Postby smilerbaker » Tue 26.04.2011, 08:11

This is Junks old car, I bought it last year when it had just has its belt done, new brakes all round, new water pump and various other bits and peices

pic of it then are here
http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff19 ... an%20M100/

since then it had one of the cats removed, new mats, new battery, various bits of trim tided up etc

also comes with bob's brake upgrade kit with braded hoses, 294mm grooved discs and I think I went for red calipers, the kit isn't fitted as the plan was to get the car swiss registered, in order to do this the car has to be OEM, so I was going to get the kit fitted after it became swiss :)

Also comes with a new steering wheel hub so you can fit a new standard fit wheel (momo etc)

Other spares of note, LHD headlights (not fitted) again so I could offically import it, new door speakers (not fitted), Elan scan cable

various bits and peices Junks threw in

engine and turbo are spot on, it still pulls like a train, tyres where new (kumo's I think) and are still like new, alloys are in mint condition, tool kit is in boot and again is complete and mint.

Bad points.

Hood has the usual repair in the usual place,
a few stone chips on the rear wings,
car was repaired (see junks photo album above) and a week after I bought it out here some old git reversed into it, so the front was completely redone again, on his insurance, I have to say they did a really good job, bumper repaired again, new mesh, front completely resprayed to blend in and I also paid for them to respray the drivers door as it had some spidering. The damage wasn't bad at all, a small crack in the fibre glass but that caused some paint to flake off, total cost was 3000chf (so about £2k, yes swiss prices take the pee)

Car is in switzerland at the moment, I don't mind either bringing back to the uk or if you want to pick it up and take in a few mountain passes first :) its fully UK road legal, so taxed, insured and MOT'ed (if I bring it back i'll also get it a new mot and tax)

Price £4k

Reason for sale, we just bought a house here, in the mountains, plan was to build a garage but it looks like the cash will run out before we get a chance :( and much as I love the elan I really don't think it will survive 6 months outside at -20c and a couple of meters of snow

feel free to ask anything

Thanks, I'm a bit surprised to be honest that someone hasn't bitten my hand off for it! Had a few silly emails and stupid offers, but that's life. Worst case I'll sorn it and stick it in storage :)

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just thinking about buying an Elan for a summer fun car...

Is it MOT'd and taxed?
Is it relatively waterproof?
Whats the mileage?
Has it been regularly serviced?
Is it mechanically sound?
Where in the Uk can it be taken to for collection? I am based in Aberdeen :D

Thanks

Steve

Mot will be new, tax will be at least 6months

Re history, what do you want to know? It doesn't have a fsh as far as I know, I certainly have no proof that it does, it a 15 year old car at the end of the day, the only history I can be sure of is what I have had done.

Thanks to the people who emailed me that the car is too cheap, a couple of reasons, as you can see in the pics it has been in a crash that was registered with the insurance co. damage wasn't bad at all but as we all know the slightest knock on an elan will make the insurance company write them off (no new body panels available).

I was also after a quick sale, so priced it to sell with no messing around or haggling, this seems to have backfired somewhat as I've had loads of emails asking why so cheap and whats wrong it, so I clear that up, there is nothing wrong with it, it drives perfectly, the only issues I've had with it where the exhaust cat collapsed and so I had it removed (the other cat is still fitted, so you don't get boost creep and the emissions are fine) the battery died so its got a brand spanking new one and a battery kill switch, and I've had to do the wastegate wiggle.

Its driven all the swiss mountain passes without missing a beat, keeping up with all manor of italian exotica

Yes the brake kit is included along with all the other elan gear I have

I'd prefer not to sell

some more pics

and this is our 'new' house

just so you get an idea of what the elan would be subject too if I keep it ;)

I can't believe nobody wants this?
I can't justify another Elan & I've done so much to the one I already have that I'm not changing it.

Nico must have hidden his laptop from Kim :D Maybe I'll let the cat out of the bag on Saturday

:) I have a few people interested but no one has come up with a deposit yet, I can understand why people are hesitant as the car isn't in the uk at the moment, had the same issue when we sold our uk landcrusier, in the end a dealer in the uk bought that and flew over to collect it (and made a hell of a profit on it :( )

I'm also sticking firm on the price, which also seems to put people off, offering 3k doesn't get a very polite reply from me lol

maybe I should have stuck it up for 5k then played 'the game'

Drove the elan back to the uk on thursday (via germany, had to be done :D ) MOT on Fri which it passed with only an advisery on the brake balance, no real issue as the big brake kit is going to be fitted anyway.
Gave her a quick clean on sat morning and in the afternoon she went off to her new owner :(

I'm sure he'll be along here soon.

Cheers all
