Postby cortinaelan455 » Sun 22.05.2011, 22:25

i've started my car after it being laid up for winter and have quite a bad water leak from the front of the car.I.ve jacked it up and had a look from underneath but can't exactly see where the water is coming from.I was looking on the forum for an explaination of how to remove the rad and read in a post its in the shop manual that can be downloaded. I can't find this on the site anywhere or any explaiination of how to remove the rad. Am i just looking in the wrong place

I had to remove mine a few weeks back due to the drain plug at the bottom shearing off. It was a fairly easy job to do even for a complete novice. Jack the car up and ensure it is well supported. The chasis rail at the bottom needs unbolting first, there are three bolts, two on the side one on the top. With that undone it is just a matter of finding the bolts securing the radiator at each side and at the top. The ones at the top I found the most difficult especially on replacing as I was on my own and found it difficult to loacte and reattach an earth wire. The manual gives a step by step guide, follow this and you will be fine! Just allow plenty of time and be prepared for the odd skinned knuckle! Good luck

take the time to repaint\ galvanise all the metal in that area as it is very prone to rotting and impossible to do when assembled.
I had mine powder coated in red....so the tow hoop is bright red as part of it!! great for on track as the martial s need to see where to tow you off

I replaced mine with stainless hex bolts + rubber washer.
Works like a charm.

By head, threadsize = M12 x 1.25 but i'll have to check.
