Hi Guys
I got to where I was going this morning and discovered that the near side hood spring cover had gone AWOL it must have flown of and disappeared into some hedgerow somewhere I hope that's where it went and it didn't crash into someones windscreen behind me .
Are they still available or has anyone got any surplus to requirements I had a problem with them on the previous Elan I owned but they appeared to be fairly secure on this red one I have now .The one on the offside is still there and feels secure enough.
You know the things I am talking about they are hinged and they raise and lower when the hood is operated to conceal the hood hinges .
If anyone knows where I can obtain one I would appreciate it if you would let me know
Cheers
Roan

SJ Sportscars do them though you may need to paint (probably both) to get them to look reasonable.
Look for B Post Trim Cap

I've just had my driver's side (Left or off side) cap come off recently. The cap broke loose from the hinge, so left the hinge attached while the cap itself, which is unbroken, popped off. I found it on the floor down beside the seat.
I have tried gluing the thing back onto the hinge 4 times now with different types of glue/epoxy/quiksteel. So far, the quiksteel worked best, but that only lasted through abouta weeks worth of raising and lowering the roof. I'm starting to believe you simply can't repair one of these damn things. However, SJSportscars sells the hinges and caps as separate items. How do you attach the hinge to the cap securely?
BTW, everytime the repair failed, the cap ended up on the floor either behind or beside the seat.
Chris

Hi
I was in a fix when I lost my nearside B post cap ,They are £26.00 each from S J S ports cars .I managed to get hold of two from a breaker , and he wasnt sure if they were what I was looking for so he sent them F O C .When I received them the off side one (drivers side ) was intact and all there and working unfortunately the one I wanted was broken and without the spring and hinge ,as it was I still had the hinge and spring on my car which was left on when the top piece blew off. I managed to fabricate a small metal bracket , I got hold of some araldite ,it sets in 5 minutes ,I stuck the bracket on the B post cap and instead of pop rivetting it on I used 2 small 2BA screws and nuts to secure it to the hinge .Now all is well and its working fine .I then decided to keep the other side just in case I would need it at a later date .However if you are desperate for one I can let you have it for the same price as I paid for it which was nothing .Just send me the money to post it to you and your details and I will let you have it .You might try and repair yours first with some Araldite .Whatever you choose to do its here if you want it
Just let me know.
