made me laugh  from one of my security colleagues at work

From: security-bounces@lists
Extract from the SRMPv2 “Customer Portal” welcome/getting started email:

Enter a new password … please avoid the use of the following characters < ! > % ? “.

So, erm, why?... Have we employed some junior programmer who doesn’t know how to escape characters? Have we employed some junior DBA who’s asking for passwords to be inserted in plaintext? Are we effectively being told there’s a pile of injection vulnerabilities (HTML and/or database) with this system that we can’t be bothered to fix?...

Personally my “strong” passwords would almost always include a ! or a % …

I haven’t actually tested this (not a user of the system myself) but the use of the phrase “please avoid” seems a little vague too … are they saying it definitely won’t work so absolutely don’t do it, or, are they saying pretty please don’t do it because it makes our admin tasks harder?...

So in order to comply with BT Security policy for 8 character passwords I use Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

"Jesus Knows You're Here"

A burglar broke into a house one night.
He shined his flashlight
around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said,
'Jesus knows you're here.'

He nearly jumped out of his skin,
clicked his flashlight off, and froze.

When he heard nothing more,
after a bit, he shook his head and
continued.

Just as he pulled the stereo out so
he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he
heard 'Jesus is watching you.'

Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically,
looking for the source of the voice.

Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight
beam came to rest on a parrot.

'Did you say that?' he hissed
at the parrot.

'Yep', the parrot confessed, then squawked,
'I'm just trying to warn you that he is
watching you.'

The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me,
huh? Who in the world are you ?'

'Moses,' replied the bird.

'Moses?' the burglar laughed.
'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'

'The kind of people that would name a
Rottweiler Jesus.'

If you crave attention so much as to pay to drive that monstrosity, you can afford to put 60 quid in the parking meter.

:D

We all know those cute little computer symbols called 'emoticons,' where:

:) means a smile and (:

:( is a frown. ):

Sometimes these are represented by

:-) (-:

:-( )-:

Well, how about some 'ARSICONS?'
Here goes:

(_!_) a regular arse

(__!__) a fat arse

(!) a tight arse

(_*_) an arsehole

{_!_} a swishy arse

(_o_) an arse that's been around

(_x_) kiss my arse

(_X_) leave my arse alone

(_zzz_) a tired arse

(_E=mc2_) a smart arse

(_$_) Money coming out of his arse

(_?_) Dumb Arse

I hadn't seen a few of these

Everyone likes a little arse but nobody likes a smart arse.

OB: Jake (African Gray parrot) has learned to say e=mc^2
He also says 'Totally Tropical Maaannn'' with a West Indian accent.
Suggestions for cool things for a parrot to learn on a postcard.
Keep it clean!
