HKS Blow off Valve adjustment

Postby Lotus54 » Sat 08.10.2011, 01:07

My car came with an older HKS BOV. I noticed the lock nut was loose and perhaps the adjustment rod moved.
I also noticed the boost didn't seem to go oever around .8 bar (was .95). Could be something else (the car is new to me and I'm gradually working the bugs out of it), but I should get it set correctly anyway.

I couldn't find anything on the older ones online, and one know?

I've got a Greddy BOV on mine with one of LotusGirlMarie's induction kits. I played around with the adjustment at first but I must admit that I could not tell the blindest bit of difference
A BOV should really release pressure when it detects a pressure difference across the throttle plate, so adustment should not be ass critical as for a dump valve?

Hopefully someone will put me in my place if I am wrong? :chair:

What I did.
Warm engine
open throttle by hand 1/4
Bov should vent upon throttle body closing
open throttle by hand 1/2
Bov should vent upon throttle body closing
open throttle by hand 3/4
Bov should vent upon throttle body closing
open throttle by hand full
Bov should vent upon throttle body closing
If at anytime you see or hear bov opening upon opening the throttle by hand
tension up the Bov.
Also a Dyno will tell you if it is set correctly.
Just my 2 cents
