Pedal Rubbers - Source please?

Postby Coupeboy » Thu 15.10.2009, 13:04

The previous owner thought it would be fun and funky to fit a set of Sparco pedal treads. They are naff and I had to remove the accelerator one to stop me pressing the brake and accelerator at the same time :? Does anybody know from where replacement rubber covers can be obtained or a (scrap) car where they are a straight swap? Thanks

Hi...

I got mine from SJ Sportscars...not much money. I expect they are available elsewhere from another vehicle but I don't know which... probably not worth the hassle of finding out!

Hang on... I think I kept my old ones... they have done 30,000 miles and were not in bad nick (even with a heavy right foot). If I can find them you can have them for a promise of a

Let me know if you get stuck finding new ones.

David

David, you're right, SJ does them for £3.17+VAT each. It didn't occur to me that such things exist new (which makes me think they are GM sourced). Thanks for your kind offer but seeing as they're that cheap I have ordered some. Cheers.

They are the same as a Morris Marina, Austin Allegro, Triumph Dolomite and many other cars of the era - it appears to be the one true cross-manufacturer part.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

As of now no longer available by Lotus, as SJ's told me today...
I am in need of a pair (mine were missing from the start) So the quest starts here

Since i have no example... Are these the right stuff, and are there originaly covers for every pedal? :

I don't think so. They should be rectangular.

Odd that SJ told you that today, but they have them listed on their website.

Using the part number from SJ and the Elan Parts Guide (A079J6001F), I checked the Lotus Price Book I received on 9/24/2011, and it is still active at £6.98.
I don't see a pedal pad for the throttle pedal. Try a different dealer.

Thanks, I did just that, and now I have quotes for 30 Euro and 50 Euro for a pair (including shipment)
Other source recommendations appreciated, as I can spend the money just once, and the car is eating parts of course

No pedal rubber fitted on the accelerator (throttle) as standard.
