what sounds better 2.25 or 2.5

i,ll be making a system for my S2 this winter
i'll be porting the WG and i,ll not be looking for over 250hp
so from what i can gather reading the topics, I'm fine performance ways to go either 2.5 or 2.25
but what size sounds better, as in
I prefer a higher pitch sound versus a deep drone
I like it to be nice and subtle off boost - again avoiding the drone
so it seems to me that the 2.25 is the better choice but is this actually the case or are they both pretty much same same

Cant imagine there being much difference in noise between 2.25-2.5 , I think its only Piper that make both size's , the 2.5 will be the one for max performance and would be what I would personally go for myself ,, but for you it sounds like the 2.25 will be enough... if you went 2.5 or 2.25 it would be a good idea to incorporate a drop in silencer which you could fit for every day plus Motorway driving and be able to drop it out and bolt in a straight pipe for spirited driving

I have the Peco 2.25 system fitted to mine and this is great for performance and pops and bangs but does become a drone on motorways in the future I would like to fit the Piper as from what I've heard this is spot on, .....only paid £150 for the Peco as new second hand, I wonder what it would cost for a DIY system?

Why are you making it yourself Norm ? too much time on your hands , making the down-pipe is a great idea but as there's a developed well fitting system from Piper ?

Thanks trig, I acquired a bunch of V band ex pipe flanges and clamps ex RAF tornado hate to see them going to waste
but my plans have changed again - I traced a water leak to the radiator end can on the nearside - no worries - until I stuck my hand through the box section of the front sub assembly
so its plan B for this winter = corrosion repair :

I have the same type of leak on the same side, its done a year with that leak but will need doing as soon as I can afford a shiny new alloy unit..
I couldn't believe how much corrosion was hiding away under my plastic tub , all sorted now for another 20yrs , at least your S2 has galvanised wishbones!

It's not just the materials which make a proper SS exhaust worth going for, it's the way they are made. A lot of fuss was made about having the pipe bent with a mandrel (ordinary bends squash the pipe a little, a mandrel allows the pipe to keep its shape which is better for gas flow).
