Plans for 2012

Postby daveiow » Mon 09.01.2012, 11:27

Well the year has started in great form for me as i have just finished reading a copy of the Mark Hughes book on the Elan my other half Ness got me for Xmas :D
She bought it online and when it arrived (in very good order) it had Dorchester Prison :? stenciled on the pages! I wonder if anyone on here took it with them when they were "visiting"?
Thinking about plans for later in the year we are considering going to the Ypres gathering and wondered if anyone could give us heads up on what its like?
Also does anyone plan to go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed "en masse" on any particular day?
I know it's early but we are very busy in the heart of the summer and have to plan our trips well in advance.

Hi, Happy New Year to you and Ness.

I've not participated in a group trip to GFOS - I've stopped going because of the price... Rambo and I do normally go to Silverstone Classic and there might be more interest this year as it ties in with Club Lotus events (although I'm not quite sure what that means)

I don't know anything about Ypres so can't help you there.

I was wondering if you could handle a group of Elaners at your place though.. ;)

The Silverstone Classics are brilliant. They are also excellent value if you get in early and get the 2 for 1 deal. It works out at about £40 for the Friday qualifying and Sat/Sun race days. Jim, his 2 sons and myself have met up there for the past 3 years and had good fun camping in a field backing on to the Force India HQ. I'm amazed that more of the LEC crowd don't go as it really is a good weekend.

PS Gary goes as well but he owns one of those hairdresser MX-5's now

Hi Daveiow!

If you want to hear more about Ypres, You just have to phone me (I'll drop you my number by PM)
I'd be more than happy to tell you more about it, and especially why you shouldn't miss it!

(that goes for everyone)
I'm also offering a place to stay, but from my place it is still a 2,5 hour drive to Ypres though...

And a Happy New Year to you to Jim (and all on the site)
I'm afraid Silverstone does'nt work for us as the last 2 weekends of July are our busy time. :(
I only mentioned Goodwood as i thought Lotus was the featured marque this year?
As for a trip over to see us-great!-I hope to get to more of the evenings at the Hen & Chicken in the spring so perhaps we could set something up then.
