Sump Removal

A friend of mine has just acquired a 1992 aquamarine Elan ,he has discovered that the sump is leaking from a crack where its been bottomed on a speed bump or something like that .Anyway he says has looked in to removing the sump and he has told me that the engine has to come out to remove the sump .Surely not
Therefore the question I am asking is Is it possible to remove the sump with the engine in situ ??

IIRC the sump can be removed from below by removing the Prongeron so, I don't think that, you don't have to remove the engine!

Interestingly though was there any damage to the Prongeron?

No
The only thing that appears to be damaged is the sump

Just the sump getting bashed is not that uncommon, Gerald at GST said he has changed a few over the years and now he wished he'd kept the better ones as all they need was a bit of welding, although they are double skinned or so he said.
