3M™ Marine Fast Cure 5200 Adhesive Sealant

A faster curing version of 3M™ Marine 4200 Adhesive Sealant. The high performance polyurethane becomes tack free in one hour and fully cures in approximately 24 hours. The seal is extremely strong, retains its strength above or below the water line. Stays flexible and allows for structural movement. Has excellent resistance to weathering and salt water.

I've had good luck with it on my boat and in other applications. Generally you have to cut it off if you have well prepared surfaces.

Thanks Dean

That seems exactly what I need, particularly as I think it's water related corrosion that's caused it to become detached.

When I removed everything, barrel and clip, the little tinker in the photograph below also fell out. It took me a little while to realise that this should be firmly attached to the boot panel, inside the lock opening. This then stops the lock barrel from spinning. I've attached it back temporarily with blu-tack, which appears to be holding OK, but I would like to fix it back permanently.

Can anybody suggest a really strong adhesive that allows a bit of movement initially but sets and grips with a "will of iron". I would normally use Araldite but, with the restricted access, I'd probably end up with it all over the place including the lock mechanism!

Thanks in advance

Bumping an old thread :)

I have an S2 Elan, and ever since I've had it the boot lock has been wrong. When I bought the car, the lock wasn't even attached to the boot. I bought a "boot lock retaining clip" which successfully holds the lock in place. However, like the above poster, unless I open the lock extremely carefully, it spins round with the key.

So, perhaps I need the above part and to strongly glue it in place. Does anyone know what part number that is, and if it's compatible with an S2 elan boot/lock. I've looked on SJS, but they don't seem to have the part.

Thanks.
