Phil,

Any ideas on prices?

I want to go close loop and fit a O2 sensor but my Stiffy doesn`t have the Boss/Bung so i`m thinking rather than have one welded in a may go for one of these but depends on price.

Cheers

As my post here has resulted in some unintended consequences, I'm editing it for clarification!

I spoke to the nice chap at Piper last week and mentioned the M100 downpipe, and it sounds like they're putting a lot of effort in on our behalf to make sure it's great. It'll be a while yet as there's a lot of work still to do, but I don't think we need to interfere with their process, they're very good at this stuff and I believe we'll get the best result by letting the experts get on with it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished result.

I'll try to come up with a theoretical 'best' solution and will talk to my rocket science friends (no, really!) It's an injection and mixing problem actually. Does anyone if the exhaust gasses from the waste gate can go supersonic at any stage? or what pressures / mass flows and temperatures we are talking about? All (known and cross checked) input welcome!

I thought that was why we were leaving it to the guys at Piper: Because they know more than most about exhaust flow?

Can we all just hold our horses here.

There is a plan, this is going to happen, any opinions or ideas or expert advice is always welcome on this thread (as long as it's civil) but I think you are jumping the gun Adam. Tom at Piper and I chat on the phone and via email. Lets keep it on the thread and keep it flowing and let me do the leasing.

Tom will post when his team are ready and the more support on here the better, they have a development team who have other development work in their schedule, especially now during the racing season.
Piper have gas flow equipment to analyse the fluid dynamics of their prototypes, they are not a knock one up before we go down the pub organisation, so this will take time and encouragement.

Some have misinterpreted my methods in the past and motivation but I have and always will be working hard to ensure the best solution is going to be available for our cars (and I do know what I am doing believe it or not ).

This is my personal project which I have extended into a group buy as I feel it would benefit everyone, if we all start hassling Piper there is no continuity with info coming from different directions, lets just keep it simple and supportive.

Cheers,

Phil

Tom at Piper is looking for any feedback people may have with existing upgraded down pipes. Not for me to comment as I have never had one fitted to my cars.

Please see Tom's Thread here! :-D

Piper are looking at a making a performance down pipe for Elan SE and S2 Cars.
This will include O2 sensor fitting point (and bung for non sensor cars).
This will fit cars with and without Air Con.

We are looking at 2 possible products:
NOC: To fit cars with NO Cat or eliminator (S2 completely de cat or SE).
PCE: To fit cars already with a piper Pre Cat Eliminator.

1. NOC - Phil (surfboardfiller)
2. NOC - Phil (surfboardfiller)
3. NOC - Steve A, depending on results and price for an SE
4. NOC- esprit888 (LHD FED car)
5. Maybe PCE (but probably NOC!) - Pinky
6. NOC - rip
7. NOC - HJ2 (duh!) (should fit my S2, with aircon and 2,25" Piper / Peco, and include O2 bung)
8. NOC - Cliff
9.NOC - Kenich (maybe I can sort a Piper exhaust along side this to
10. NOC - Avonvilla
11. NOC - DavidEJM (looking to do Piper exhaust too) - depending on price vs return of course
12. NOC - Nicowalker1 Very much price dependant, to fit 2.25" Peco
13. NOC - Denny (looking to do Piper exhaust too) - depending on package price
14. NOC - Aoki Magic Pants (amended from PCE as recommended)
15. NOC - ashm (was actually in the process of talking to a local exhaust shop about this myself - you can borrow my spare manifold/precat housing if Piper need one for dimensions!)
16. NOC - whippit, to suite 2.5 "( have a pce but will bin it for a smooth flow) unless advised otherwise
17. NOC - BFG in the BRG (looking to do Piper Exhaust too....at some stage - die you existing exhaust die )

18. Ratman, only if it fits to the original main Cat. I have the original precat empty right now and I want to improve the quality of the flow
19. NOC - Calli (will be going 2.25 Piper, any chance a good price for both?)[/quote]

The upgrade will be a direct replacement for all cars. It will improve gas flow and therefore performance will increase.

Re: Piper Exhaust Down Pipe

My car failed its MOT on exhaust emissions. As part of the refurb, I am going to fit a whole new exhaust anyway. I would like to be included but am not up on the terminology.

Should I put my name down for an NOC (I have an M100 SE)? Or should I put name down for a PCE and get a PCE to go with it? Presumably given the large amount of people wanting NOC this is going to be the only option and I should get an NOC; but then does that mean I will be running without a cat? Will I get through an MOT without one?

I mean, I CAN get it through the MOT without one if I ask nicely, but I don't want to be pumping emissions out into the atmosphere. I'm guessing that I go NOC, Piper exhaust, and the emissions take care of themselves in someway, therefore assuming I have this correct:
