Lotus Elan Roof prices
I have been looking for a roof for my Elan and have only seen prices in the region of £900 and a further £500 for fitting.
After reading the article in Practical Classics on the elan stating that a new hood is around the £550 mark I contacted them to find out were they got the information from? They were very helpful and told me that they were informed of an aftermarket company somewhere in London that does its own replacements they don’t know the name of the company but know that people who have used them had tracked down the outfit on here.
Has anyone got any ideas or details of were to get a hood for less than £900.

There are a few companies that can supply and fit hoods or at least advertise the fact, they all quote prices reusing the seals.
I think M100hoods purchased all the remaining seals from Trim Technology who made the original hood for the Elan and their price includes new seals.
The seals are expensive and you are looking at £400.00 plus for all the seals.
If you are contemplating a new hood then who ever does the job will need the car as they are fitted to the car not to just the hood frame.

Interesting.

but,
SEALS, SEALS, SEALS!!!!

It's the wretched seals that are the problem!!!
Including main door seals!

I should get my new hood kit tomorrow from Trim Technologies. This is a complete hood kit with all the seals including the deck seal. Including VAT and delivery came to £834. Door seals are proving to be a problem however as i can get the LHS one but not the RHS. Ive decided not to do one without the other as it will look wrong. i may look at makeing my own seal solution but am left pondering how to finish off the top of the door piece where it meets the hood B pillar bit.
A post seals were bought from SJ.
Gonna have some fun fitting the new roof but hoping not to be beaten!!
