hey folks, couple of you know since ive beenchatting in emai about my engine. long story short. oil hose went and it sht itself.
it would be nice to have the car for a bot of the summer. im looking into the few options for a spare engine to drop in and runw hile the original unit gets a rebuil. there is a 1600 na isuzu that is available and has been rebuilt. I already had some info on this with those who I have been chatting with but thought I would do a little more public conversation.
Anybody have any thoughts on the ease and difficulties with doing a swap like this? simple or complex? Ithought having the na memcal would be enough but im not so sure...just been exhausted a lot lately so if Im not making sense i apologize in advance.

You will need the complete ECM as they are different it's not just the Memcal.
Not sure what else you can get with a NA engine over there but the coil is different as is the exhaust manifold and down pipe but the latter does marry up to the turbo exhaust all be it louder. You'll probably need to check the wiring to make sure the two are compatable but it should be a case of disconecting the bits that are not used.
Not sure how the car will feel as the turbo gearbox has a higher final drive than the NA but the physical fit is the same as far as I'm aware.

Mine came with out the Memcal but they are on the aftersales list at £12.00 so that should not be a problem IF theelanman's does not have one in it.
