Just brought these on ebay from pyxis08 (Kutching on here i think) look great and will take some pictures when i've fitted them.

They look like shoulder pads or those inserts they stuff in new shoes!

The problem with the original was durability (i.e. getting scratched when ham fisted drivers/passengers ram them back against the hinge for the hood). Are these items man enough for the job?

Not sure if the ones on my Elan have been recoated at some point (doesn't look like it). The cars done 80k and there not to bad condition wise for 18 years of use like. I can see the carbon ones being damaged easier but being a carbon whore I can't say no to a set! :lol:

Not on e-bay anymore, As I said originally I got them from Kutching on here which maybe worth a check, or happy to sell mine but would want a decent pair of originals as part of the deal as mine didn't have any and my seats are in really good condition (In the garage as I have S2000's in the car but keep them if i want to return to original)

Other alternative is to take the originals off, then prep & paint them.

That's what I did with mine and screwed them back on with some black pan head screws and they look fine now

anyone on here have the skills to make some for a group buy? i really like them.

failing that when mine comes off the road for some surgery over the winter il make the ones i have look all pretty again!

I think I'm going to do that with mine what's best way to strip them?

You can get that fake carbon stuff by 3m and recover it instead of paint. I might do this. still want real CF though.
