error code 31

Postby Rich10000 » Sat 07.07.2012, 09:14

Hi all,

I have an un-modified Elan - on a jaunt out this morning put my foot down and the boost gauge went right up to 1bar before the ECU cut power. Got home and an error code of 31 was stored - turbo over boost.

I'm no mechanical genius but I've read some stuff about actuator valves jamming. Is it just a case of squirting some WD40 on something or is all a bit more involved? Any clues or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks

Rich

sounds like your wastegate is stuck shut, click on wikiLEC at top of page and look for 'wastegate:releasing' for a how to with pictures.
It's pretty straightforward but replacing the lowest of the 3 bolts can cause mutterings depending on size of hands.
You may also find it more comfortable if you to let the turbo cool down!
