Steering rack refurb?

Postby JonT » Wed 18.07.2012, 09:49

I've finally got round to having the spare rack Phil supplied with the car fitted. The good news is that it's completely removed the play that was noticeable before around the centre position. I've kept the old rack - so the question is is there anywhere to get it refurbed? Should the point come that I need it (or decide to sell it), it would be a lot more useful having it in a good state. Does anyone know how to do this or a company that can do it?

thanks,

Jon

The seal kits are listed on the afters sales list A100H6023S £20.00 but I would think you need the kit to fit it so may be supply the old rack and a seal kit to who ever is going to overhaul it.

Sandra, thanks for that link, please let us know what the service is like when you get your rack back.

Bob - it's not the seals that have worn on mine, but I think the internal pinion. I guess the seal kit may be needed if it can all be stripped down and any worn parts replaced?

Thought I'd ask the question, the company m100sandra listed will overhaul the rack for £125.00 + return delivery at £15.00 did not ask if that was + VAT.
They said they can sort the seals out or they can be supplied with the rack.
They also said that the play at mid travel is not a problem to sort out.
