Another rear brake mot fail

Both were refurbished last year with new pistons (not sliders). Both are still functioning correctly on footbrake, levers pull correctly when handbreak is applied but on the drivers side the piston does not move looks like another piston and refurb!
Anybody else experienced similar?

Good news is it passed on everything else so its cheaper than getting my new front wishbones fitted

Could be worse...

Mine was picked up on an advisory for brake lines last year...

I've checked her over and the brakes are in need of some major work..

So this year it's a full brake system overhaul and replacement...

The car is sat waiting for some much needed attention and no MOT

That sucks Mine was off road for 18 months prior to last years mot, had all four calipers refurbed, new disks pads, bobs hubs, changed rear wishbones...

Ideally I need to change the oil cooler asap, and fit the front upper and lower bones that are winding Kim up in the conservatory

But that's what conservatories are designed for - just ask Angie, she'll explain it all to Kim





Simple answer to all of these problems - dont spend time polishing it - get it working properly then use it ......

Exactly the same problem with the Elan I want to buy!
Disapproved for the inspection and they look already all week to the problem but do not find it?
What is the solution?

approx £260 (plus VAT i'm sure). I'm not sure what it's like. I'm still awaiting a reply from them.

If I will have the car I can consider this Wayne but first the seller must get him through the vehicle inspection before I can buy him!

I've used PNM before (for front brakes) they are a good company to work with.

The rear brake kit looks nice and at a good price too, I've seen s/h brakes on here for more money

Pete tells me he is still waiting for some feedback from the other people who have them, I have sent him an email regarding fitting and initial impressions. The car is going for MoT on the 26th Feb so I will give a further write up then.

Cliff. Looking forward to your opinion of them. Good to see that it improves the handbrake. Mine is c**p. I'm tempted to order a set the next time I'm in the UK. (suitcase filler for the return journey

I phoned PNM today on the phone for 30 mins he likes talking about lotus the rear brake kit he said he has fitted them to 4 cars over the past 2 years with no problems but if you are fitting them to a se you will have to skim the brake disc or pad but not on the s2 it has a slimmer disc the kit now costs about £300+vat i didnt ask about a group buy it may be cheaper, he also said that he can repair (exchange) broken gear cables for £80 each supply headlamp lift motors for £62.50 and has made the door glass rubber seal with a stainless steel backing lotus call it a wite seal for £68 all prices are +vat may be worth starting a group buy list for the brake kit and then see if we can get a discount.

just checked the date of his last email... 10. Dec 2012. £260 -£300 is Quite an increase in 2 months??

Will call tomorrow to see if any improvements can be made on the price... especially if he is willing to give a discount for several sets.

When I got the car, I would still want to recondition the caliper! Where can I get a repair kit?

PNM are also a good source for redress kits, including sliders and slider boots - although I didn't ask for new pistons he could get them if needed, however that was my crossover point to buying his replacment callipers - by the time new pistons were added to a seal and slider kit
