Truly amazing! But with the most diverse & sophisticated language on the planet if I hear another GB competitor use that expression to describe the support received, or 'brilliant' or 'fantastic' I shall throw something at the telly!

They should have all been given a copy of Rogets amongst their kit!

That aside I think that we're doing a fantastically, brilliant job ably encouraged by some amazing support, arghh.

questions by reporters that didn't have a clue

I've been a bit glued to it - not good for getting anthing else done at all! Some incredible performances, virtually all poorer for what I thought has been crap commentary and analysis. I want to know about all of the athletes, especially the best, not just the Brit in the race be they first or last. I dont want every Brit athlete built up to being a "real medal hope", and every "real medal hope" built up to being "going for gold". Its not necessary - the performances are no less for not being hyped (Peter Wilson's gold was just as rivetting to watch as Chris Hoy's and I'd never heard of him before). I learnt that Wilson was a world champion and record holder, but I learnt nothing at all about the Swede who was second - the comentator didn't even notice he was the biggest threat to Wilson until three rounds after he got into 2nd - hardly any facts or background presented just adjectives about the action that we could all see. Its so much easier to cheer yourself off the sofa for (eg Becy's) bronze if you haven't been fed a diet of Addlington "going for gold" for 4 years! A medal at the Olympics FFS that is an amazing achievement. Having spent most of my life with Brits ecstatic to reach a final and come last, it is really great to actually get some medals, but please let them do it with less hype, and lets still celebrate the very real achievement of reaching an Olympic final.

Espcially loved the 78Kg womens judo - what a great performance by Gemma Gibbons - she 'only' came second - bloody brilliant to even be there with what she's been through, then beats the world champion on the semi final, and loses to an athlete (from USA, but it doesn't really matter where) who was a tad less knackered, a tad more lucky, or a tad better for a couple of seconds in a 5 minute match - and who was probably trying just as hard to win - that's what it's all about - personal improvement, not 'Doing it for Britain' - perhaps it's time they took the jingoistic element away and we all supported excellence in whatever event is being shown?

My wife watched the medal ceremony for the rowing eights, and when the yanks were presented with their bronze medals exclaimed about one of them: 'He's very pleased isn't he?'. They really should change out of the Lycra before the medal ceremony!
