Bad News

Postby algirdas » Tue 14.08.2012, 15:52

Dear All:

I'm baaaaaack! After roughly a four year sabbatical, my life is beginning to settle down and it looks as if I might be able to get back to monkeying with cars. I am starting to think about car projects again and I have a couple of good ones lined up. Should be really interesting for all Elan owners. Stay tuned and I will bring you all up to speed on what I have been doing these last four years.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

but you never really went away completely - I saw you on a couple of Group buys (or was that just Geoff spending your money?)

Dear All:

Never really away completely. Its just that as I get older I find that my ego is writing checks my body cannot cash. As much as I wanted to get dirty and grimy tinkering with cars these last few years, the demands placed upon me by a more than full-time practice, starting married life, building a house and acting as my own general contractor and, best of all, starting a family, was more than I could easily bear. As much as I wanted to grab my laptop and keep up with happenings on the web-site, I just did not have it in me. But now I see a light at the end of the tunnel and hope it is not a fast moving freight train.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Al,

I fully appreciate where you're coming from - we all have to prioritise and no-one would expect you to put your hobby above your livelihood, and more importantly, your family and health.
I know what you mean about age as well - swapping the gearbox on the car used to be a half-day job - last time it took a whole day and 2 hours of the next - the back ache lasted a whole lot longer again!

Dear Geoff:

Unfortunately, still watching WAY too much TV. With the Cubs and the Rockies competing to be the worst team in professional baseball, there has not been much to cheer about at the Liepas household. Time to get out into the garage aka "man cave" and get things ready for the next two projects-Project Havana and Project Asta. Stay "tuned" for more details in the days and weeks to come.

By the way, I have to tip my hat to all of you in London concerning the Olympics. From our vantage point, it appears you did a great job. And who says Britain isn't Great?

Sincerely,

Dear Marie:

You got me laughing! I had forgotten that we started out trying to enlarge our TV room and wound up knocking down the entire house. I will have to share this comedy of errors with the group. I am sure most will find it to be a real thigh slapper. I would be laughing more were it not for the cost of re-building our home.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

Welcome back, Algirdas! You had me going a bit with the subject line - was genuinely concerned until I saw the post. Hope you are well.
