central door locking

The central locking is completely dead on my s2. The gemini alarm has been removed by the previous owner but, according to the maintenance manual the central locking appears as if it should work without the alarm. Please can anyone out there shed a bit of light on this for me - are there any common faults?

First, check the fuse (passenger footwell). It might have blown, or the guy who took out the alarm might have taken out the fuse as well.

I have checked the fuse and it is ok. I'm a bit lost as what to do next...

what happend when you use the key?
do you lock one door?...no doors?...all doors?.....can you turn the key?

The key will only open/lock one door at a time. I have looked further into the electrical manual and found a central locking diagram that illustrates that the central locking is/was routed through the alarm ( I 'm assuming the first wiring diagram i mentioned was for an earlyer model ). I want to fit a clifford alarm but, i guess, untill i hand the car over to the installer i won't really know what works and what doesn't...

This ties up with my experience with the S2 - the central locking was driven by the alarm - there's no CDL module on an S2.

I did encounter another problem with the same car - the alarm installer discovered that one of the solenoids was broken when he put a new alarm system in, so I replaced the solenoid..

I had an issue with my S2 turned out when I had new alarm (sigma) installed the drivers door part had been removed at some stage! Good news was installer had a similar unit and once installed all works fine with the remote for my alarm. I'm sure given that you are having a clifford alarm this will also be the case but I know the guy who installed mine had one more left if you need a spare

Thats good to know, Cheers. I have the old gemini alarm control module sat on my coffee table, I hope thats the only 'bit' thats missing!
