I have a 96 S2 and have recently fitted the piper kit including sports cat and it passed the Mot just fine! The pre cat is still fitted and is the original one. Hope this helps.

:)

My experience with replacement Cats is that as long as the Cat is defined as a 'direct fit and OEM replacement' there should be no issues with how it performs, and even fewer with how it fits and installs. Eastern Catalytic manufactures replacements that meet the performance of OEM. Rock Auto sells them.

If your car was registered before 1/8/95, then you don't need a cat but it might make passing the MoT easier!

Here on the left side of the pond I have been using replacement cats for several years. After the original died I had a local shop replace it.
