Unfortunatly The sill plates didn't arrive before I went on vacation and I have just picked them up this evening.

Bad news is that I am not happy with the quality of them.

I have opened about 2/3rs of them and non of them are good. they all have scratches and have been damaged during production and do not have the correct font in the logo. :(

I will try to source a new supplier but in the mean time Please do not add any more names to the list untill I can find a company that can provide an acceptable part.

No one that has put up their name is comitted to buy. I was just looking for estimates of how many to order.

Sorry for my mistake. Hopefully I will find a new provider soon. Unfortunatly it may take a while.......

Regards

Wayne

If you're having 'em redone anyhow, I would vote for this logo:
Image

Just my personal irrelevant erroneous immature opinion, but just having the Chapman initials is odd to me on this car, seeing as he had nothing to do with it - whereas the full Logo with the triangular lozenge is "Lotus", not just Chapman. Further, why not use the same font that's already used on our cars, either from the front badge or the rear badge Yes, I know I'm annoying. I apologize. Just MHO. Carry on.

Thank you all for your support. Unfortunatly I really do not think they are of acceptable quality to sell.
Unfortunatly it does not show up on photos. I will try to take some pictures in sunlight on my days off.

Some may polish up a bit. The brushed ones look more like "rubbed with a pan scrubber" Nothing like what I was expecting.

I think that all they would be good for is freebies at the Donington stall.... Providing I can hand deliver them to the UK.

Sorry. I screwed up on this one. I do not expect anyone to pay for my mistake

I will be very carefull in any future orders. I will insist on a sample of the materials before I order, Images of proposed part and a sample of the finished product before I make the final payment. (most of which I was supposed to get with the last company)....

Lotos. I was expecting the origional Lotus font (same as in the brand logo and on the badges. The one I ended up with was not on my final drawing that I sent to them but is probably similar to an early design that I sent. So I may be to blame for that mistake.

The closest font I found to it was in microsoft word. font: dutch801 xbd BT. I would also have prefered the full Lotus logo which I included in an early pic but I had based the design on the origional part that I had seen and this seemed to be the prefered logo.

I contacted a few more companies last night. Anything at this point can be changed...... If anyone can provide a good vector image drawing of the lotus font and logo it would be very usefull at this point.....

If there are any preferences of different logo etc. I will be willing to try for any prefered design.

Wayne, I really don't think you can take this all on your shoulders. It seems you're at least £150 in the hole (assuming you didn't add to the first 10), just for trying to help us out. Of course we must pay you.

Unfortunately, not getting what you expected is, er, expected in this region. I don't know anyone here in this kind of business, but if I can help with, say, getting a sample let me kow. For what it's worth, if you are starting again I really like lotos's proposal

Wayne,

I'd still like to buy a pair of these off you (brushed finish).

You say that the finish isn't exactly as you envisaged, but i'd still like a set as I'm fairly sure that a bit of a rub with a pan scrubber will get them right! (okay then, an appropriate grade of steel wool)....... then either a squirt of laquer (or not) and job done.

As such, I'll start a list - committed to buy.

I'm not sure if I am on the group buy, but I'd like to be an honestly Wayne if you just put your PayPal address here and let everybody who wants to, send you a fiver, you might well fine there are several of us including me who "wouldn't hear of" you being out of pocket.

I'd like to be part of the group buy however it turns out and if you want to get them right, I've sourced the Lotus logo as an EPS and a font that isn't a million miles away, so here is a quick draft of the sill.

I'll keep working on the font if you want me to and get something exact suitable for a cutter to work from if you guys give me instructions as to what you want. In the example above note that the typeface in the logo and in the main body are not the same. They aren't in mine either but its closer and I will get it right, take the EPSes to bits and see if they really contain vector info when I have a bit more than 2 minutes, and if they don't I can draw the vectors so one way or another I can get you a vector file finished up no problem in black and white, and keep all of the material on file or upload to LEC for other projects.

Wayne,

I'd still like to buy a pair of these off you (polished finish). I'm happy to convert then to a brushed finish if they look that bad which I'm sure they are not. If you say they can't be converted I'm happy to take a brushed finish pair.

Well here's my tuppence,

I'll trust Wayne's judgement on the matter of their quality  , so I don't think I want a pair of these :? !
That said Wayne acted in good faith with the producer/manufacturer on behalf of the Group and therefore I don't think that he should necessarily take a financial hit (Wayne, I'm happy to make some payment for my element just let me know where and how!)

If we find another, competent, manufacturer then I, also, like Lotos' suggestion

Cheers

Sorry my post above was a bit rushed and doesn't make perfect sense.

Basically I now have the Lotus circular logo, and written logo, as vectors (EPS file). I've now checked them out and all the scalable paths are in there, so they are good to produce cutting templates from.

The triangular logo is, I think the same as the one in the centre of the circular logo. So I can cut it out, scale it up, adjust the orientation and spacing/height/width of the lettering, and get you the vector file you will need to produce these correctly.

Just let me know what needs doing, and which versions of logos/text everybody agrees on.

Wayne.
As far as I'm concerned I said I would take a pair of the polished and a pair of the brushed and I'm prepared and happy to honour that commitment. You shouldn't be out of pocket because ultimately you were trying to help us all. :smt023

I agree with all the above comments and and happy to contribute to the costs so far...

... And I wasn't on the original list !!

Maybe, if the project gets going again, the cost so far could be incorporated into the final price, I am happy to join this list and pay an extra whack towards it.

Just my twopenneth... and added to everyone elses twopennethethessesss, we could get £150.00 !
