e-bay exhaust

Time has come to replace the rusty exhaust on the car. I have seen a stainless system on ebay for around £250ish. Has anyone had any experience of them? Do the fit okay? Are overly loud? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you mean the one sold by cybox 100, then it is the Peco exhaust.

Good system. Many on here have them & are happy with it although a small number have found it to be a little boomy when cruising. It also used to whistle quite loudly at about 6000rpm but I believe Peco altered the design to cure this.

If you're thinking it is loud & nasty like a chavved up Corsa or Polo, then I have given you the wrong impression.
It is louder than any of the Piper systems. It is also considerably cheaper too.

i fitted one to my car last year it comes with all the fixings req all you need is a new gasket, once the old system was removed it was very easy to fit in my garage with the car on stands, yes some will say it is loud but not boy racer loud i think its ok also they will take a offer on the price, if you are in west sussex i can meet you so you can make up your own mind also you get a faster car after fitting it. if you just need a end box i have one its only done about 300 miles it was fitted by the last owner you can have it if you can pick it up from my home.

I think there a good buy for £250 although only paid £150 for mine second hand , would happily pay £250 all day long ,, there a good fit and well made and release a bit more power which ain't a bad thing
I don't personally find mine too loud , but I vary rarely travel on the motorways were it can drone a bit..

Had mine fitted a couple of weeks ago, looks and fits fine, sounds great. Not too noisy, bit of popping and banging as I come into roundabouts etc. Arrived pretty quickly too

I finally decided on a Piper 2 1/4'' system. I have just picked it up from being fitted......WOW!!! The car instantly felt quicker and much more responsive. The sound is a lovely low grumble that isn't at all boomy or annoying. Even though it wasn't the cheapest system, I really can't praise it enough.

My exhaust started to blow today and I have had a temporary fix done by Kwik Fit. Have a split in the back section before the box. Looking at the
system whilst it was on the ramp it has also been spot welded a few times on the front section. But the box section looks ok.

Would it be best to replace the whole exhaust system or does piper sell in sections? My feeling is to just go with the whole system?

Any advice out there?

If one bit needs doing, then it certainly makes sence to do the lot - mainly because the rest will not be far behind, but also the Piper system isn't available in the same 2" bore as the original, so fitting will be a pain in the ass.

Besides which, Piper is only a very short drive from you, so it's an excuse to take the familly for a day at the seaside to collect the bits

Off to pick up new exhaust from Piper tomorrow, hope to get it fitted before the Lotus Festival weekend at Brands Hatch, sure all will go ok!!??

Had new Piper exhaust fitted today, wow, what a difference that makes. Noise and performance is great. A very happy bunny just had to drive through Medway tunnel to get full affect

I'm glad you're pleased with the Piper. As I said before it wasn't the cheapest system out there but I'm a big believer of you get what you pay for. The service from Piper was second to none, the system fitted easily, sounds great, looks great, car performs better......'nough said.

you might want to get a wire brush on those bones and get them painted/waxoiled.....
while theyre in a reasonable state.......gets expensive when you need new ones

I never did find out what exhaust I had on my elan. However was always interested in a PECO, as many had them but I remember reading about the Boost Creep which wasn't soemthing I was overly keen on.

But not a single mention in this thread.

0.25" or in old money 1/4"

2.25" over stock 2" = about 12% better flow = more hp.
2.50" over stock 2" = about 24% better flow = get out of my way hp when coupled with other mods.
