yes they have, just as well i wasnt banking on keeping the tub, im hope the project car is in better nick. Quick question id realy like to get this car off my hands, does anyone know what the minimum is that i need to take to the scrap yard to have it scrapped? the chassis is ok as its knackered would be nice to keep hold of the tub so i can use it for some design ideas i have.

I have taken a few wheels before and they were happy to weigh and pay.

sorry i meant signing over the v5 and having the parts recycled/destroyed. scrapping the car itself rather than the parts per say.

You shouldn't need to, some scrap yards will ask to see the V5 to prove you own the vehicle, but if you scrap the chassis then just sell it as scrap metal and send off the V5 to DVLA Sawnsea, dont give the V5 away! just fill it out as if it were a change of details, ticking the box 17 (Scrapped) and 18 (Date) in section 6 of the V5 'New Keeper or New Address'.

You may not be able to scrap the tub as its mostly plastic. I cut mine up and took it to the county recycle centre (The Tip/Dump) and signed a declaration that it was domestic waste, owned by a private individual (me) not a business.
Its easier if you take a small trailer rather than a van or they will probably say it's trade waste and you need a licence etc...

oh thanks for that its good to know, thought you had to jump through loads of hoops.

Just a quick update of the project i think im going to start a blog aswell as posting on here, got my hands pretty full at the moment but id like to get started before baby comes, but im not sure how or where i can store the body once its removed, tempted to bolt something the the joists but hoists seem very expensive and it will block alot of light out once its lifted right up. might just store it on the drive for a little while when the BRG shell and chassis has gone.

forgive me farther for it has been 1 year 4 months and 10 days since my last post. actually that means it was a few months away from the birth of my son Loki.... yes i named my son Loki, Loki Kai Don to be precise. ive spent the last year and some just trying to get by pysically, financialy etc. cant see it changing any time soon, and ive achieved absolutley nothing as far as elans go, had to tidy up the drive and my garage is so full of elan and associated parts that i cant actually work in there. the current line of thinking is if i get enough money is to make the S2 pristine and keep loki (realy need to rename the car now) as a long term project, if i ever get back on this i will keep you all posted, but at the moment im just checking in and seeing whats new. Best wishes to all.

You wont get rid of me that easily i was daft enought to buy an elan as my first and only car, so im daft enough to keep hold of atleast one when i cant fit my boy in the back :o

Heh heh..

Our little boy Robin took his first drive recently after 4 months! He was impressed! 8)
The delivery was one straight from hell, almost lost my wife, but i took matters into my own hand and in the end we could leave the hospital as a family :bananasex: :bananasex: :bananasex: (long story)

After that: Yes, ups and downs, but if you ask me if our life is totally upside down .... No! It somehow just fits and feels good!
One of the benefits of becoming a dad @ middel age i guess;-)

Now on to more important stuff: How's the Elan?

had a tricky one ourselves, basicly kicked out the first midwife on the delivery ward and then ended up having to have an emergency C-section, then i watched him stop breathing and have to be resusitated while having to reassure the rather terrified girlfriend. Always wanted to be a dad, and im not spring chicken for my first a 33, but just not a financialy stable as id have liked to be. Id love to take loki out in the elan, think it would be a nice nod to my dad and would mean alot, but cant afford to insure tax or repair it so its not going to happen any time soon :(

im still in the same situation as i was in a year ago, still havnt sorted the wire to the fuel pump or replaced the hall effect sensor on the S2, maybe next year. the SE is finaly in the garage so its not deteriorating (as much) but work has holted as i just dont have the space, what i want to do is put the new chassis next to the car so i can rebuild as i strip so i dont forget anything. but the main thing stopping me is that i actually have to climb into my garage and the mess doesnt get better once on the inside. might buy a shipping container "for work" and try working in that.... mmmmmm theres a thought.

could be alot of change coming in the next year, im realy hoping to take ownership (sort of) of some land, and idealy move on to it if all goes well, and setup so income which would be realy nice. Been self employed the last year and its not been the best time to start out.
