Which are the Leather Bits?

Postby Fourdoorcat » Mon 05.11.2012, 04:33

This probably seems like a silly question. But I, for one, have a difficult time determining what is leather and what is not. In my US spec Elan, it appears that the seat surfaces are leather; I guess they pretty much would have to be. What about the sides, front and back of the seat; is all of this leather also? It also seems that the gaiters for the shift lever and handbrake are leather. I think the pockets in the doors are also.

What else? Is that all of it?

Thanks,

Ken

Yeah, I think that you've sussed it all, apart from the gear knob & steering wheel maybe!

Other than that it is a plastic paradise or dungeon (take your pick) all other surfaces being vinyl coated.

Of course, if you're refurbishing then you can replace as much as you want with whatever material you want.

Fortunately, I have no need to refurbish, just maintain.

Thanks for all the helpful comments.

I think the back of the seat is plastic and possibly the sides, mine was.

Well, the interior a-pillar trim sure comes covered in leather as standard. This was a problem with my car as the previous owner let it become wet and the leather shrunk. I have replaced the cover with fake leather now.
