What is wrong with this picture?

When I first bought my car I noticed that the previous owner had changed the windscreen wipers to the modern low profile blades and 1 was alot shorter than the other.
So now that it's winter time here and we finally got some rain last night I decided to change the blades over.

Thanks to BCN I got a set of new 22" Lotus blades but they seemed too long and snagged each other ?? So I bought some 20" blades.... The drivers side blade still hits the roof??

Been trying to work out what the problem was and then finally tonight it dawned on me I've only had the car just over 1 year

Are the wiper arms the correct way around ie foil should be in front of the driver.
