Samco hose Puzzle

Samco now has my Lotus original hose (C100K0104F) and I believe I have now convinced them that the Samco hose is somewhat short. I am told that they will look at producing a new tool next week to manufacture longer hoses, and will now list the kit as suitable for the Elan S2.

I also believe Samco will soon be producing silicone hoses for the intake and turbo. More soon I hope.

For those in the notion of a Samco hose kit, I'd hold off for a while longer until the new longer hose is available.

... And not a single word from Amber performance to be heard again...

I am now in contact with Samco directly for an alternative option that even might add a bonus feature we M100 owners all want!
I hope that I can tell you more soon.

For now I am very unpleased with the lack of response from Amber Performance, as I paid them a lot of money for the hose kit that does not fit our cars. I don't know how things legally are in the UK, but here in the Netherlands, the one who sells you the product is obliged to handle all warranty. Not the manufacturer...

More than one month has passed, and not a single word anymore from SAMCO ...
I no longer believe there will be a solution presented. Shame on your customer service samco!
I asked for a metal pipe, a short piece of hose and 2 clips so I can extend the hose that is too short, and finally fix my friend's car! I also offered to pay for these parts to fix the problem of the hose being too short... you guessed it... no response

I am now looking for ways to have my own hose produced with the fault being corrected and an added bonus feature. What a waste since the Samco products are quite good actually. It looks however that the Elan community is a too small a fish to pay attention to.

Henk-Jan, I'm surprised that Samco hasn't responded to you.

I received my replacement hose at the end of October. The original hose in the kit had a part number TB1838 and the new longer hose has a part number TB4277. The new one is certainly longer, although I haven't measured by how much. I must do that and let you know.

I took measurements along the top and bottom faces of the large diameter pipes of the old (TB1838) and new (TB4277) hoses. The average of the two measurements on the old hose was 313 mm and on the new 353 mm. The measurement from the top end of the hose to the T-off was 215mm on the old hose and 225mm on the new hose.

So the new hose is 40mm longer overall, which is what I had suggested to Samco, with 10mm added to the top end and 30mm added to the bottom end.

Henk-Jan, your suggestion of a drain facility on the lowest point of the hose was an excellent idea, maybe it will be incorporated at some later date.

I am worried when I come to fit my Samco hose kit it will come up short…..

Pete, just in case nobody has, I can confirm those pipes are in the kit.

If I get stuck I am going to use a company called autosiliconhoses.com to "fill in the gaps" on my engine - they supply all kinds of silicon and neoprene hoses together with beaded joiners, vacuum hose, clamps, bolts, adaptors and all sorts.

I am not sure if they ship internationnaly. HJ2, if you are stuck and need to get something from them shipped to me in the UK, I'll post it on for you.

My apologies this is a problem I myself do not have.

But I will be installing my Samco hoses this winter and hope all will fit.
