Apart from physical connections, I think the important thing is that it doesn't blow off before the turbo reaches max boost of 0.65bar (std) or 0.9bar (Everest). They work using the vacuum created when you lift off the throttle.

It seems to be supplied with 2 springs, so there is presumably a choice of release pressures. Probably best to contact seller (phone no in ad in contact details) and try to establish these pressures. Then take it from there.

I too would like to know as I have a 'dump to atmosphere valve' rather than recirc, and hate the chavvy whooosh it gives. So would like to replace with a recirc type without paying a fortune.

Which is it? Can a BOV be used as a DV?

A BOV has extra plumbing. This is connected to the far side of the throttle valve plate. When the valve detects a difference in pressure across the throttle plate, it is because the throttle is closed. The valve therefore opens to give the excess pressure an escape route.
A DV works differently: It vents excess pressure above a particular value which is hopefully above what your turbo will produce. If it is set too low, then your turbo can produce boost which will get immediately dumped. If it is set too high, it will not release much excess pressure & when the pressure drops below boost pressure when the turbo is still not running, it won't release.

But I don't know if it is suitable for an Elan..
