Just wondering what the recommended time is for changing a clutch. Have been quoted 8 hours labour! Is this too long?

I think it's quite a lengthy process ,Doesn't one of the cross members have to be removed ?

Per the Elan Labour Time Schedule:
Clutch Assembly - Replace 4.0 hrs
Clutch Cable - Replace 1.0 hrs
As those times were established for Lotus dealers when submitting warranty claims (with the training and specific equipment for each job) and Elans being rare now so that, depending on where you're located, each time a shop works on one it could be a one-off job, I would expect the actual time could reasonably be ~ 50% more.

Thanks, just wanted to check. Hopefully it won't be full 8 hours and it comes in cheaper.
