Airbag light/sound silencers on FED cars

Postby GoM100Go » Thu 02.05.2013, 08:28

I want to change out my steering wheel and was wondering what I can do to keep the airbag light from flashing and sounding when I find a new steering wheel i want to use. I just don't want blinking and sounds at random. Thanks.

I did not find that it sounded. The light bulb can be removed with the knee bolster removed.

Doesn't the airbag still function if you put in another airbag wheel? Why would the idiot light stay on?

He is not putting an airbag wheel back on. There is probably a way to put a resistor between the two airbag connectors that fools the system into thinking the airbag is still there.

I will see what I can find.

In order to trick and shut off the SIR light after replacing the ugly GM airbag wheel with a non-airbag wheel you simply need to install a 2-Ohm resistor across the airbag terminals, it will then cycle and go off as normal. This is a very common and proven method on the Esprit that has the identical wheel to the M100.

Don't know if anyone is following this but I found a solution to the light. This plugs into the ABS harness and cancels the light!
