I have a few extra Special Tools for removing the fuel lines at the Petrol Tank.

"Special push-on fittings are used on both pipes at the connections to the fuel pump assembly,
and require a special tool - T000T0898 - to release the connectors."

Would I need this to replace the fuel pump? Pretty much put me down for one anyway, but I'd like to know the answer!

Jamie: A lot of people use two small screwdrivers or ice picks to release the friction locks but after slipping a screwdriver and tearing up my finger, I decided to find a couple for myself. It is awkward enough working around the top and the other interior bits that it is easy to slip off the fitting and get frustrated. The tool applies pressure to both sides of the friction lock at the same time so you only need one hand for the tool and you can use the other to slip the hose off the tank unit. It fits the notches in the fitting exactly.

It looks like it will only cost around $2.50 more to send it by First Class Mail to the UK, so it would be $15.00 including postage.

Cool, let me try to get an answer about the dew strip tool, maybe I could send that to you and you could post both to me? I bought it from Rodney Dickman about 10 days ago and haven't heard much, so I doubt its despatched.

I'll send the PP money shortly to confirm the order and then any excess once I get an answer from them.

Not a problem to add your Rodney tool too. I wish I had an extra one I could just throw in for you. I gutted my doors a few years ago and once the glass was out, I just used a really long phillips driver. If you need my address, let me know.

call me a cheapskate, but i made up a tool for a few pence (well, less than that, 'cos i already had what i needed!)....

....a piece of steel sheet with 2 x 4mm holes the right distance apart - insert 2 pop rivets and do them up enough to hold but not snap off the pin - job done!

I replaced my fuel pump a few years ago and remember having a bitch of a time removing the fuel lines. I think I finally managed it with some needle nose pliers... I think I can still see the scars where I skewered my hand....

John sent me one of the tools a few weeks ago and can confirm that they work great

I tried it out on my spare fuel tank. When I stripped the donor car I never managed to get 1 of the lines off and as it was damaged anyway I just cut it. It still took a bit of pulling and twisting but it popped off quite easily with no blood shed Best $12.50 I've ever spent

You will need to send me your complete address and phone number (I will keep it private) since PayPal doesn't provide that info with a Personal Payment. Out of country shipments require going to the Post Office, so I will do that every few days - it isn't very close.

I still have some of these. The price is fair and you will end up needing the tool at some point, so get one while they still exist.
