Spares or Repair (SOLD)

Postby noodle1791 » Tue 18.06.2013, 21:31

Hi All,

Im selling my Elan Turbo SE for spares or repair. Shes in green with 95k and a large amount of history which is why i originally bought her as when complete shed look really good. I have two keys. The car starts but the brakes are binding a little and she has no tax or MOT. Shes got quite a few bits of the interior removed but not missing as I had started to dismantle ready to refurb. However Im currently distracted refurbishing my new house (which is in a dire state) and just wont be able to start on the car for a long long time.

I am contactable on 07877444459. If you ring during business hours I may not answer straight away as phone will be on silent but I will return your call on the number dialled. (i dont have an answerphone)

£1000 as she is, no offers.

Subject to the car selling I have the following for sale. I will not sell these parts before the car as these will complete the car to a good level and these parts are proving very hard to source. They will be offered to sale to who ever buys the car in the first instance.

Trim tech new hood (new)
All roof seals (A post seals inc) including the rear deck seal (all new)
Door seals both right hand side and left hand side (new and cost me a lot)

I'm gutted to be selling but she is just not going to get started anytime soon.

I WILL NOT SELL THE SPARES BEFORE THE CAR not negotiable please dont phone to try to convince me otherwise.

A sad and gutted Elan owner. :(

Sorry to see that you may have to sell your car...... :( I really hope that it does not come to this drastic measure.

I wish that I had a space to store this car but I may have just rented out my house and garage in the UK..... So unfortunately I can not buy it from you.

Should your other parts become available please let me know. I may have an interest that would benefit a lot of Elan owners.

If you are looking at buying another Elan in the future and expect to need these parts again. I may be able to offer you a very good solution. i.e. You get money that you need now... I get the loan of parts to have them remade for Elan owners in the future???

I did understand your info about you not wiling to let any parts go before the car is sold. I do respect this. But If you have seen any of my posts in the last year or 2 you will understand why I have contacted you.

Should I get confirmation that Lotus will not be reproducing these parts again. I will go ahead and try to have them remade. I have already had a replacement for the escutcheon and the B post cap is in the final stages of production. My next idea... or should I say area I was pushed into getting made is the rear light covers. I believe I have now found an affordable source. My sample is already with the company.

The seals were going to be the next on my list providing Lotus will not be remaking them. BCN in the US has a lot of new spares but not header seal or door seals.

Should you wish to part with these parts in the future (or come to some other arangement) Please contact me either via pm

Regards

Wayne

If there is nothing really wrong with it, why don't you put it in for MOT... might cost £40, but if you can confirm that all that's wrong with it is the brakes binding then it shouldn't take much cash to get the MOT done and you could sell for double or more what you're asking... that would be the way I'd go...

Seems a shame to sell a car as scrap/project if there's not much wrong with it and could be easily put back on the road... just my 2p

Thanks, but she needs brakes refurbing for MOT but then on from that for a reasonable price in sale the interior will need sorting along with the hood etc. this takes time of which i dont have while renovating my house. id rather see car and parts go to forum member and get fixed up nice and stay on road. i can come back to an elan once the house is straight.

Really doesn't look that bad, door cards back on and fix the brakes and you could get an mot and use it until you have time to fix it.

:agree:

I don't have the time to use it for leisure/pleasure so I'm going through the keep it/sell it decision cycle again (happens every year, usually when the insurance & MOT are due...).

If you do decide you can't keep it then make sure you properly weigh up the pros and cons of "speculate to accumulate" if you can get a 12 month MOT then I would hope you could turn £2k in a quick sale (although I'm not in the market and not watching prices so don't take this as fact!).

doesn't look bad at all.......

an hour or so putting the interior back....
£100 with the garage to get the brakes working....
£50 for the MOT
